현악기와 브라스의 날카롭고 둥그런 음색과 거친 보컬이 어울려 두두둥 가슴을 친다.
60년대 미국 흑인민권운동의 상징이라 불리는 이 곡이 21세기를 사는 나에게 여전히 뜨겁게 다가온다. 함께 실린 곡들도 모두 명곡들인데다 워낙에 맛을 잘 살려 불러서 듣다보면 슬슬 따라부르며 몸도 흔들게 되고 찔끔 눈물도 흘리게 된다.
